A 50-year-old farmer, Alfa Mustapha, was discovered dead on his farm in Ageri Village, near Olodo in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident was reported on Saturday, February 22, 2025, when Mustapha failed to return home after heading to his farm that morning.
Concerned about his absence, the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, went to the farm around 6:02 p.m. and found the deceased lying face-up with his cutlass beside him.
The Ogun State Police Command was notified at approximately 6:30 p.m., and officers promptly visited the scene. Due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility, no immediate signs of violence were detected.
However, a subsequent medical examination at the General Hospital, Odeda, revealed that Mustapha had sustained bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range.
In response, Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has ordered a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The police have urged anyone with pertinent information to come forward, assuring that all details will be treated confidentially.
