In a tragic incident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, a 23-year-old man, Iliayasu Mohammed, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his friend, Safillahi Muhammad, after inviting him over for a meal.
The incident occurred in Dantata Village, Abuja Municipal Area Council. The FCT Police Command received a distress call around 1:30 PM on February 13, 2025.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Safillahi Muhammad, unconscious in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on his head and body. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Iliayasu Mohammed, is an ex-convict with ties to a criminal syndicate known for targeting motorcyclists.
During interrogation, Mohammed confessed to the crime and provided information about his accomplices, including a gang leader identified as Hassan, who is currently at large.
The suspect was apprehended at the scene and is currently in police custody.
The FCT Police Command has launched a manhunt for the remaining members of the syndicate. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
